Alana Jelinek

Artist Alana Jelinek explores through her work the notions of power, knowledge, colonialism and neo-colonialism and the way individuals navigate systems.

Her art practice includes traditional art skills as well as novel writing, performance and site-specific interventions.

Since 2009, she is Arts & Humanities Research Council Fellow in Creative Arts at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Cambridge.

Her research with the Museum concentrates on the relationship between the collection, the collector and the collected, explored through exhibitions, events and publications, including her recently published book This is Not Art: Activism and other not-art (2013) about the role of art in a world ordered by neoliberal principles.
